The South Dakota Firefighters Association, South Dakota Firefighters Association Auxiliary and the Dear Old Timers Organization are offering two $1000 scholarships to a high school student one boy, one girl, to assist in their higher education. Scholarship money will be awarded second semester, freshman year.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Any child or grandchild of any member (living, deceased or retired) of a fire department in South Dakota or an active member of a junior fire department in South Dakota.
2. A high school senior or student entering their first semester of college.
3. The applicant must be sponsored by a fire department that has 100% membership in the SD Firefighters Association for the current year.
4. The applicant may also be sponsored by a member of the SD Firefighters Auxiliary, a local fire department auxiliary or a member of the Dear Old Timers.
5. The scholarship may be used at a South Dakota college, or Post Secondary institution (Vo-Tech), but may be used in the field of fire science outside of South Dakota.
6. Applications must be received on or before April 15, 2010 to be considered.
